Isa Tapia is the Director of Accessories at Ann Taylor. She recently shared her secret to creating a personalized wardrobe that works overtime with Marie Claire in an article called "Chic Office Dress Code."

Three rules to dress by:
1) It's always better to be overdressed than underdressed.

2) Don't take yourself, or your outfits, too seriously. Walk your dog in a gown, or go to a gallery opening in pajamas — just wear something fabulous, like a great necklace or fur gilet, with them.

3) Don't overdo it. Never wear designer or fast-fashion head-to-toe or aim to be perfectly polished.


Style Note:
"Balance is key. If you're wearing jeans, wear statement jewelry. If you're in a cocktail dress, go with minimal makeup and messy hair."
